A day in the life of a CP

CP is short for College program, as in the Disney College program. I suppose it all started when I first visited Walt Disney World when I was just two months old. My parents clearly set me up for this. As I grew, so did the love, and even as an adult I am constantly visiting the parks. In 2014, I was offered an amazing opportunity to intern for the Walt Disney Company in the Disney College program. The offered job was a lifeguard at the resorts. Although this wasn't exactly what I wanted to do, (I clearly believe I should have been a princess or something), I accepted the job and moved to orlando for five months.

I lived in a three bedroom apartment with five other girls provided by Disney, although did pay rent. Transportation was provided, but I did avoid those sketchy busses as much as possible. Some of my roommates weren't so lucky.

I was placed at my favorite resorts, Disney's Polynesian Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. My first stop was "costuming", where Disney employees pick up their uniforms. There waiting for me, was a super attractive red one piece swimsuit, red shorts, and a white collared shirt. I was obviously ecstatic to wear this. After a week of lifeguard training in forty degree weather, I began my job as a lifeguard. I worked around forty hours a week, sometimes more during spring break.

As a Disney employee, I was able to visit any of the parks, any day, any time. It was a dream come true! So on my days off, you could find me enjoying some Mickey ice cream bars at Magic Kingdom or eating my way around the world showcase at EPCOT.

Each one of my roommates had different jobs which meant different schedules. As you can imagine, six girls in a small apartment can get a little tricky! We attempted to spend time together when we could, but found ourselves making friends with the people we actually worked with. The people I met during my program are now my closest friends. I was lucky enough to meet people from all over the world!

I could go on and on about my program. It all ended too soon, and I would do it again in a heart beat. I, of course, visit as often as I can and I still have many friends who work there. Working for the company was a dream come true and I cherish it dearly! As Walt Disney himself once said, "If you can dream it, you can do it".

Here is a video I made after my program, showing a glimpse into a day in the life of a CP! Enjoy.
Warning: this video is pretty long!
